Our Mentors

Peter Ellyard is a futurist and strategist who lives in Melbourne. A graduate of the University of Sydney (BSc.Agr) and Cornell University (MS, Ph.D), he is an Executive Director of Preferred Futures which he founded in 1991. A former Executive Director for the Australian Commission for the Future (1988-1991), he held CEO positions in a number of public sector organisations for 15 years, including two Environment Departments and an Industry and Technology Department.

He was Chief of Staff of the Office of the Minister for the Environment in Canberra. He has been a Senior Adviser to the United Nations system for more than 25 years, including the UNDP, UNEP and UNESCO, and was a Special Adviser to the 1992 Earth Summit. He has worked extensively in developing countries Peter was a consultant to the Malaysia 2020 program for 5 years. During 1998 he completed KUMUL2020, a UNDP funded strategic vision for the future of Papua New Guinea, which was launched by the PNG Government in August 1999.

Peter is Chairman of the Universal Greening Group, a group of companies involved in environmental innovations, ecological sustainability and the creation of a sustainable society, and which includes a Green Venture Capital company. He is Chairman of the MyPlanet Foundation (MPF), a new global not for profit organisation. The MPF's major programs are "MyTown" which is dedicated to develop 21st century sustainable prosperity for rural and regional communities and "MyCountry" its equivalent for developing nations. He is Adjunct Professor of Intergenerational Strategies at the University of Queensland in both the School of Management and the School of Natural and Rural Systems Management.  

Peter has written a best selling book Ideas for the New Millennium, which was published in September 1998 by the Melbourne University Press. A second edition of the book was released in January 2001. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Education, the Environment Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Management. He has practiced and taught Iyengar yoga for 20 years and is a practising Esperantist. His other passions include music, theatre and supporting the Brisbane Lions.

He has been a Senior Adviser to the United Nations system for more than 30 years including to the 1992 Earth Summit where he was a senior advisor on both the climate change and the biodiversity conventions. In this he was the only Australian and one of only 20 globally. At other times he has been a senior consultant to the UNEP, UNDP and UNESCO.

Dr Ellyard is the author of the best selling book Ideas for the New Millennium (1998, 2001) and Designing 2050: Pathways to Sustainable Prosperity on Spaceship Earth (2008). He is an enlightening, challenging and thought-provoking speaker.

Jennifer Campbell has a passion for people, learning and their ongoing transformation. She has woven these passions together throughout her career. Jennifer engages with people with an open heart and open mind, she brings a deep intuitive sense teamed with practical wisdom. Working with her clients, Jennifer designs and facilitates professional development programs which transform the individual as well as the organisation.

Early in her career Jennifer was a secondary teacher. She then ventured into youth work and explored various community sector roles, in which she was actively involved in challenging the status-quo and enhancing the lives of those around her. In recognition for just such work, Jennifer was awarded the Tattersall's Award for Enterprise and Achievement.

As a manager of community agencies she worked with the staff teams to ensure truly innovative programs in response to local needs. Jennifer leads by example, she has always been willing to get in and work side-by-side people as they build and achieve their vision. This has seen her involved in mud-brick making, cooking breakfast for hundreds of people, white water rafting, gardening, painting, participating in theatre productions or dozens of other activities. Jennifer builds real relationships as she journeys with them.

Jennifer now focuses her practice through her business Facilitated Learning which she launched in 1997 Jennifer works with a diverse range of clients both across Australia and within the Asia-Pacific region. She specialises in tailoring material to suit the needs of specific organisational context. 

Jennifer co-authored two learner guides, currently released by IBSA, which are foundational texts for the design and facilitation of group-based learning. These nationally endorsed learner guides are used Australia wide for the training of workplace trainers and facilitators. She is currently working with a major humanitarian agency, World Vision to establish their global competency-based learning and assessment system.

As her focus extends to leadership and the developing organization, Jennifer's partnership approach is guiding the collaboration and creation of the Path of Conscious Leadership; an international collaboration to enhance conscious leadership through the provision of forums, consultancy, facilitation and training.
